Europe’s fourth largest carrier, Turkish Airlines has been moving very aggressively forward to emerge as an airline industry leader. Turkish Airlines has destination all over the world in places like Asia, Europe, North America, South America and is going to various locations in Africa. This company is coming up on 80 years of being in the flying business. This company has experienced many good and bad growing pains. Spain’s Valencia is the newest addition to the long list of routes operated by Turkish Airlines and there will be four weekly flights to this destination. These destinations are an expansion to the routes the airline already offers to Spain, namely Madrid and Barcelona. Turkish Airlines will have a pretty full year, judging according to the plans they have disclosed, and this is just the beginning. There will be many additions to the company’s destinations this year. Destinations such as Paris, Lyon, Toulouse and Nice in France are also on the list, planned for the summer of 2011. With these additions, the airline will have 175 destinations in its offering, even though the year is still at the beginning. Manchester United, the English soccer team, signed a contract with Turkish Airlines in October of 2010, after intense negotiations. Manchester United will be featured in a TV ad that will present the new concept Turkish Airlines has for business travel. This is an exciting time for both organizations for many reasons. This new series of commercials will feature top players enjoying the fine amenities available for Turkish Airlines’ business class passengers.
Turkish Airlines rewards programs are encouraging members to upgrade their flight classes as often as possible. Certainly, the benefits are numerous for their passengers as well. Miles & Smiles card holders can switch their tickets up from Economy, Business and Comfort Class. Passengers are permitted to upgrade to Comfort, Business or First class, depending on their tickets.
